Step by Step Hardwood floor guide with photos.

Preparation
[1] Cover the subfloor with closed-cell foam underlayment. Roll out the foam perpendicular to the direction of the flooring.

[2] Butt together the seams of the underlayment; don’t overlap them. Secure the seams with 2-in.-wide duct tape or masking tape.

[3] Use a piece of flooring and foam underlayment as a cutting guide for trimming the door casings and jambs.

Installation
[4] Set the first plank against the wall with its tongue edge facing out. Place 1/2-in. spacer blocks between the plank and wall.

[5] Use a hammer and short tapping block to connect the end joints between the floating-floor planks in the first row.

[6] When cutting with a jigsaw, hold the plank upside down to avoid splintering the top. With a handsaw, hold it good side up.

[7] Use a hammer and long tapping block to close the tongue-and-groove joint. Tap sharply, but don’t pound on the block.

[8] When notching a flooring plank to fit around a wall corner, be sure to leave a 1/2-in. space between the notch and the wall.

[9] Install the last two rows of flooring using a steel pull bar. Hook the lip of the bar onto the plank, then tap on its anvil.

Finishing
[10] Conceal the expansion space with baseboard molding. Important: Nail the molding to the wall studs, not to the flooring.

[11] Complete the job by nailing quarter-round shoe molding to the baseboard. Tip: Paint or stain the molding before installing it.
