How it works

"Man must shape his tools lest they shape him."
-- Arthur Miller

Detailed instructions on how to use our tool are outlined below.

As you inspect your new tools you will be pleasantly surprised to find that they are well made and really “heavy duty”. The pull bars are made of heavy steel, welded to my specifications to endure many years of constant beating. On the bottom of the bars you will find a dense foam tape to protect the surface of your flooring material. The anvil that you hit is made of either Ultra High Density plastic or Delrin and should last a lifetime but, just in case it is replaceable. Our tapping blocks are made of high density phenolic. The 24” tapping block weighs approximately 3 pounds. I have designed both tapping blocks with a bevel on the long edge so they can be used with or without a hammer.

This tool kit can be helpful for any flooring installation but is specifically designed for aiding in the installation of tight fitting tap together type engineered flooring. The Ultimate Tool Kit contains two heavy duty pull bars with different size ends. The pull bar with the larger 7” end is designed for engaging the end joints of a full width board and for pulling in the last row of boards. Fig 1 & 2

The pull bar with the smaller 2-1/2” end is for engaging rows of flooring that have been ripped to less than a full width. Fig 3

The large tapping block is used for tapping together the long side edges of the boards. You can use this block to whack the boards together by holding the block against the board and pivoting the forward edge away from the board and sliding it firmly back toward the board.

The small tapping block is used for tapping the butt joints of the flooring boards together. I recommend hitting it with a hammer (as shown in Fig 7)

There are ten ˝” spacers in each kit and they are used to hold your flooring ˝” off the wall for recommended expansion. As shown in Fig 6

The tools you receive in any kit you purchase may vary slightly from the tools in the photographs above. I continue to make improvements based on feedback from professionals I the field.
